The birds are back

Very pleased to see the moorhen is back with a friend.
He patrolled the stream bank all Summer last year.

I couldn't not show the "outtake" of the rear end of one of the moorhens.

The bird boxes have new residents, real chirpy little fellows,
especially at five in the morning.
The box is near our bedroom window.
I have been know to put my head out and shout QUIET.

Cute though................ the sparrow, not me putting my head out of the window and shouting at it. Don't worry, they don't take any notice.

Please knock

No one should worry about me outdoing them with my painting skills.

Although I have found rock painting addictive.

By the way all the stones and rocks in the garden have been numbered.

Looking for a nut and bolt.

I have been trawling our photo file for a photo of a robin.

What has this to do with a robin?

Nothing really, although I know I must have taken this for the blog ages ago.

White horse in Dorset

I saw the white chalk horse in the distance on the hill on the way to Dorset last week.

I never noticed the horses grazing over the hedge until the photo's were downloaded.

Observant.... me?

On the way home try as I might I never saw the white horse on the hill.

I've blamed it on the hedges and the fact it was a cloudy day............. !

Chrysanthemums

Chrysanthemums, are such a lovely flower.
They are all so sweet and gentle, with just a hint of power.
Each one is different, and yet, in ways, the same.
Like many mothers that I could care to name.

Not only sweet and gentle, they are strong and tough, as well.
Surviving winter's icy winds, and summer's long, hot spell.
They calmly face each crisis, they never whine or moan.
Just like so many mothers that each of us has known.

Though some chrysanthemums are white, they come in every hue.
A wide diversity of shape, and various sizes too.
But every individual flower is special in some way.
Just like many mothers whom we recognise today!

I had tulips by the way......haven't got a poem about tulips...........

Mr Mouse, Kat and another Cat called Frank

Really lucky yesterday to see the amazing suit and head that Raggyrat has made.
Very, talented lady.

Because of all the talk about mice and Frank, thought you might like to see Frankie de tabby . He isn't quite so macho when there is a fox outside.

BY THE WAY. WRONG BLOG KAT!

Always something different inTotnes

We wondered if she realised someone had taken away the portaloo.

Red nose day, thought this idea was great, except we weren't sure to stare or just look a way.

This IS as steep as it looks. I never walk up it anymore, drive up instead.

As everyone treats the road as a footpath, you drive up and hope for the best that everyone gets out of the way. They do.

Totnes Market in Devon

It's about time I posted something colourful on here.

Glass at Totnes Market, pretty colourful, different and loads of it.

Before anyone asks, no I didn't buy any.

Think it is something you either love or hate.

I tend to drop it anyway.

The reason why the only glass you will find in the cottage is on the wall.

Panda Bear Nut

At long last another bear.
Made with the mohair that I dyed with onion skins weeks and weeks ago.
The photo doesn't do the dyeing justice, as it is a mixed mottled golden colour.
I still haven't sewn claws and still intend to do a few other things to this bear. But as I dyed the mohair so long ago, maybe I should at least show the results.

I have also given this bear real boot button eyes. REAL BOOT BUTTONS. Not glass ones.
As I love bears to growl or sing, this one has a string pull music box.
It is also hand sewn as with all my bears. The dress material I saw tucked away at the bottom of a huge pile of material at a craft fair. Fell in love with it because of my love of panda's.

Talking of which, here is a panda that I made last year.
It took me weeks of hand stitching on paw pads.
I also used a lace butterfly that I had been given from my friends trip to Venice.

Now the bear has found a home in Oxford.
Before I send her off thought you would like to see her properly in the cottage window.

One of us

One of us ....!

Decided to buy a spray "thing" to spray the garden fence, that badly needed painting.

One of us...... brought a really yuk shade of green....

One of us.... put their foot in the frog pond..... he. he. he.....

One of us.... made a big mess!

Two of us went and brought the colour blue....after we BOTH decided we hated the green.

Two of us cleared up.......

and the two of us are still painting.............................. with a paint brush.............

between showers...........................................................

Give it a few weeks and you won't know we have been there.......

Wonder who this is from?

You need to click on Sparkybrand and Rebeccaswayround on favorite Soggibottom links to find out.

Sending postcards is supposed to be a thing of the past.
We love postcards coming through our letter box.

Fossil with a long name!

Well, I expect it has. They all seem to have long names.

Looking back over the photo's taken last year I came across this.
Taken in Lyme Regis Dorset at the Fossil Shop.

Think it was the shop that said no photographs!
