Free Elephant Pattern

Elephants seem to be all the trend at the moment, so I am following the crowd.
Amie is right behind me. Although she is into goats rather than elephants.
Ask her ?
She will say she would prefer goats.

After looking at a certain "selling" site, it amazes me the amount of money that is asked for a pattern.
I know people have to earn a living. But sometimes it makes me cross. You can have this pattern free, no charge....

This is my own pattern made for a tiddler who is just about to have her first birthday.

Safety is the main thing here, so all the contents of this particular Lily Elephant are child friendly.

Safety eye's, joints and for a change I have made Lily's elephant with plush rather than mohair.

You however can make Lily's Elephant from anything you wish.

Over the next few weeks I'll adapt the pattern and probably make a few more from different materials.
Of cause I will show you............. but in the mean time you can have a go at your own.

My drawings aren't as accurate as I do most of them free hand, no particular skill is involved.
As you all know by now, I can't draw or paint.... but I am sure the pictures are easy enough to follow.

The first step........... Sew the chin..... Then your away.

Legs. As Lily's elephant is doll like you have two heavy legs.
Two arm like legs.
The head gusset.... if you look at the pattern, the trunk "bit" goes onto the head "bit".
Make sure when you cut the pattern out you join them at the appropriate place before you place them on your material.

As usual, if you have a problem, let me know and I will try and help.

No, elephants don't climb tree's.

Its funny elephants are becoming all the rage-they have always been my favorite! I have them all over my house and from all over the world.

Maizey would probably prefer goats too though. When we were on the farm she got to help me bottle feed the baby goat-she liked her as the kid was almost as small as Maizey!LOL

This is so darling, and so sweet of you to make a pattern! I'm constantly shocked at the price of patterns....sigh.

You are amazing
Is there anything that you cannot do? I admire your craftiness, but not only that- your sharing.
You have a very big giving spirit.
Your elephant is the most adorable of adorables.
You and your world are amazing

I hadn't noticed that elephants were becoming so popular, but if they all looked like this one I wouldn't be surprised! Cute pattern!

I just love this little elephant. I may try one myself as my sister has dragged a little stuffed elephant with her for nearly 50 years now. It might just be time for a new one.

I'm sure the little one will love the elephant. I'll have to show you Elly at some point. I made her with elephant fabric.

Very cute. Very generous of you to share. I know what you mean about certain craft sales sites and prices. And they wonder why there are few customers.

How timely! I just finished watching the Bill Murray movie where he had to move his inherited elephant Vera across country.

The elephant is so cute! I'm clueless when it comes to patterns and sewing:(

I'm glad you like my toilet paper cherub cover and of course I don't mind you teasing me...it's all in good fun:)

My sister collects elephants. I have books with animal patterns, just haven't had the time to make stuffed animals lately.

Thank you for sharing your elephant pattern. I am rather new to making stuffed animals, so what do you uses to fasten the legs and head to the body or do you just stitch them on with thread? I want this to be child-safe.
