All Dogs are different

All dogs are different in that they each have their own little ways that endear them to those that love us.
It may be some little games we play or tricks we learn or the way we look at you or some little thing about appearance, like having one ear black and one white.
While you grew to love me as I loved you we both gave each other happiness and love.
We do not stay on Earth long and soon the time comes when we must pass and make way for another of our kind who also needs love and care, just as I did when you found me.
I hope you loved me enough to make you love all dogs and to pass the love and care you gave to me to another lonely dog.
I know I will always have a special place in you heart and that special place will always be there. Another dog will never fill that place, but you find another place beside mine.
If you loved me enough to make you want to give your love to another dog, I would be very proud as I would have fulfilled my mission on Earth and saved another dog from loneliness.
Thank you for your loving care and one day in another place in another world we will be together again.
When you find another dog, give it all the love and care you gave to me, and then when it's turn comes, too pass on, it will be as proud and happy for the life and love you gave it as I was and it will have loved you as I did.
Your loving Dog. X
Charlie Mitchell

I really can't remember how long I have had this poem, or how many times I have read it, or who wrote it.
But I do know that every day with what ever pet you have, is special.

For Ray, Jane, Andrew and George.

I've read this before, or something very much like it, and as our pets get older, these things are harder and harder to read. I do love animals, and you most certainly do, Michele. It's a good way to be.

Thanks for sharing. Our dog is almost 9 yrs old and we love her very much. I sometimes think about how I will handle when she is gone......I just don't know. She will be missed that's for sure. Her personality couldn't be a better fit for our family. Awww, I love my dog.

We love Amie as well. Hard......
The time does come, you postpone it in your mind.
When I hear of a dog that, has had the last trip to the vet I inhale deeply and think of myself....
and lots of dots!
The owner of this particular dog, was my friend and together we dug a hole and buried my best friend many, many, years ago.
So many...
But as I type I cry......
I know he knows, how it feels, and I don't want anyone to feel the same way.....Wish that the keyboard you sit infront, could type feelings. you could type feelings rather than Aww. or oh...
or ...
Well I'm sure your imagination can run along more than mine.

Oh... Bad... bad... day...
You lose someone you love.

Hey !
Life does go on whatever!
Do it... go and find another soul and if not now, then, you will know it when it comes..... X

Thanks Midge, you know exactly how we feel at the moment. Charlie was a little devil but he was ours for 13 years and we loved him. We won't be getting another dog until we retire. The hardest thing is him not being here when we get home and get up in the morning, animals are like people, we take them for granted, only missing them when they are not there.

That was wonderful. It's amazing how our hearts can expend to hold all those little creatures and give them all the love they deserve.
