Guess who has been to Tidy Tails

Clean Amie thanks to Auntie Melony. Now to clean the dog flap!

Dartmoor Pool

We have so many views of Dartmoor, you might get bored with them after a while. It was a beautiful day up there yesterday far too good not to share.

Dartmoor Granite Railway

I never knew that the old Dartmoor quarry that Amie loves to walk around supplied granite for London Bridge and part of the British Museum. The above photo shows what is left of the granite railway that took the granite down to Teignmouth.
Dartmoor is about 16 miles away from us.
Feel really lucky that we live where we do. How many times have I said that?

To know more about the quarry and moor click onto Dartmoor Walks in the favorite list.

Onions and Sunday Church Bells

Last year I wore gloves and a mask to do this job. This year I didn't, I stood at the sink and peeled them underwater. It worked. Except I can still smell the smell of onions in the kitchen.

The black bits floating around are peppers, honestly!

Lazy start to Sunday mornings with the church bells, lots of coffee and watching the world go by while sitting in the window seat.

Fluffs has been on Google

It's an Elephant Hawk Moth.

In case your wondering.
I was put it back where I found it, under the bamboo in the garden, quite happy to eat away at fallen rose petals from the overhead rose.
Not sure if Frank was that happy as it happens to be his favorite hiding place.

Hawk Moth Catterpiller ?

We've been out in the garden all day and came across this fellow. I think it's a Hawk Moth Catterpiller, but not sure. We have had a hummingbird moth in the garden before, so who knows?
If anyone does.... let us know.

It doesn't seem to be interested in pound coins.

Over Dartmoor from the Express Way

We had a change from the Devon Express way today. We came back from Cornwall and went over Dartmoor instead. Are the roads getting smaller, or is it us?

Vet's - just like a walk in the park

As you see Amie is so much better.

She went to the vet for her check-up, and has ten days of pills to finish.
They are bearable if they are wrapped inside half a slice ham.

She was well enough to make a visit to Karina's yesterday.
Karina's cat's kept an eye on her.

Hannah's Hat

I've been knitting winter hats and thought as Hannah was sitting on my lap she could try it on.

Autumn Spider and Amie Update

Tony keeps walking into the spider webs. They are huge at this time of year.
So are the spiders.

As you see Amie has been sleeping off her outing yesterday. Although she has spent the day fast asleep, when she has been awake she seems better.
At least she didn't fall asleep in her tea tonight.

To Amie's Fan Club

Thanks to everyone for Amie's get well wishes.
She is very sleepy, but has managed to eat her tea, then go back to sleep with her head in her empty food dish.....Snoring loudly.......We have moved her to one of her favorite places, on a sheepskin infront of the fire. To sleep off the vet visit and her tea.

Pumpkins

No special treatment, just planted them.
Makes me wonder how big they could have been if they had been looked after.
There is always next year.

This is a beautiful red lettuce, a change from green.

Narrow Roads of Devon

Narrow roads are fine.
The bus was bigger than us.
We could only move over into the sea anyway.
Moral..... Know your place, especially if it's bigger than you.

Fluffy Cormorant

Never been as close to a Cormorant. See them fishing ducking and diving in the water way off shore. This one was happy watching the world go by on the quay side in Dartmouth yesterday.

The seagull beside it didn't look to impressed.

If you walk around the fort and up the steps

there are great views of the entrance to the Dart.

Widdicombe Fair Day today

But it's really muddy and we have been there before in the rain. So decided to pass. Have a look at the snaps we took at Teignmouth instead.

Caught fishing in the stream without a licence

We often see the heron in the river.
It gets spooked very quickly, and we don't often get a chance to take a photo .
Going over the bridge this morning we happened to have the camera ready.

Waiting

We walked around Teignmouth yesterday, Amie didn't go, it was raining and we thought she would be better off snoring in the warm. But I had a really strange conversation with a lady in a shop about gardens, the weather and how to plant leeks.
I was talking for ages and Tony and friend were left outside. My good deed for the day as the owner now knows how to plant her LEEKS.....

You never know what you are going to find at the top of our road

Soggibottom is near enough to the church that we hear the church bells every Sunday. Wednesday night is bell practise night. On Saturday's they are heard when there is a wedding. We were lucky enough this afternoon to catch the bride and groom making a quick get a way.

Walk in the rain 5th September

Amie loves to walk along Paignton Sea Front..

It's not far from home and if it rains there are beach shelters along the route. Today we walked quite happily along the sea front until the weather changed. Have a look yourself.

Froggy

We don't have any frogs in the back garden except this one. The newts eat all the frogs spawn, but if you want a bucket full of newts you know where to come and get them.

Undemanding Hannah

Hannah is one of our rescue cats from Godalming Cat Santuary in Surrey.
She is shy, tubby, rather beautiful and lives the life of a real fat cat. She also has great taste for leather and wooden furniture (Helps to keep her claws trim).
